Former Inland Assemblyman Brian Nestande has been appointed to the Mount San Jacinto Winter Park Authority (MSJWPA) by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors. Mr. Nestande, now deputy county executive officer for Riverside County, represented the 42nd district in the California State Assembly from 2008 to 2014. Previously, he served as chief of staff for Congressman Sonny Bono and then Congresswoman Mary Bono.

Also, Bary Freet, current chairman of the MSJWPA Board, was reappointed by the supervisors for a second term.

“Mr. Nestande is a valuable addition to the Tramway board. His experience in all levels of government is quite unique,” said Rob W. Parkins, general manager of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. “Also, we are delighted with Chairman Freet’s reappointment for a second four-year term.”

The seven-member Mount San Jacinto Winter Park Authority, a public agency and public corporation of the State of California, is the governing body of Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. The Authority was created by the Mount San Jacinto Winter Park Authority Act Ch.1040 of the Statutes of 1945, as amended by Ch.70 of the Statutes of 1947 and Ch.1004 of the Statutes of 1951, of the State of California.

Two members of the Authority are appointed by the Palm Springs City Council, two by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors and three by the California Governor.  They serve without compensation for a four-year term.
