Snow Guessing Contest
Brrrrr....It’s time to start thinking about colder weather. Pull out your mittens and
start looking for snowflakes because it’s time for the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway’s Annual Snow Guessing contest which will begin October 1st and continue until the first measurable inch of snow falls at the Mountain Station, elevation of 8,516 feet.

The first ten guesses received, beginning October 1st, with the correct date of snowfall will win four Tram admissions and a Palm Springs Aerial Tramway picture frame. In the event there are more than ten guesses, the earliest postmarks will prevail.

Anyone wishing to enter the contest can write down their guess on a postcard and
mail it to: Snow Guessing Contest, 1 Tram Way, Palm Springs, CA 92262. Postcards only will be accepted. People may enter as many times as they would like, one date per postcard. Postcards postmarked before October 1 will not be accepted.

RACE TURNS A QUARTER OF A CENTURY OLD ARE YOU UP TO THE CHALLENGE YET?

The 25th running of the Tram Road Challenge promises to be just as hard as ever. Considered the toughest 6K run the race begins on Saturday, October 30th at 7am from the bottom of Tram Way and ends at the Valley Station, an elevation gain of 2,643 feet in just 3.7 miles. The steepest portion of the race is the last 1K, with nearly a 19% grade.

Special finishers’ medals and celebratory cake will be presented during the awards ceremony held on the patio just behind the Valley Station. Awards will be given three deep in each age category for both male and female finishers. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Police Activities League.

It is unique because of the shortness of the race and the dramatic elevation gain. The first Tram Road Challenge was held in 1983 and was won by Rob Slick in 27minutes, 35 seconds and Nancy Baird in 35 minutes, 25 seconds. The fastest men’s time was set by Rubin Garcia of Mexico – 26 minutes, 5 seconds – in 1987. Lubov Kremleva of Russia set the fastest women’s time – 28 minutes, 56 seconds in 1998.

For more information and to register for the race please call (760) 324-7069 or visit
www.kleinclarksports.com. The Tramway’s road will be closed until 9am Saturday, October 30th.
