Mount San Jacinto Winter Park Authority:

The seven-member Mount San Jacinto Winter Park Authority, a public agency and public corporation of the State of California, is the governing body of Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.  The Authority was created by the Mount San Jacinto Winter Park Authority Act Ch.1040 of the Statutes of 1945, as amended by Ch.70 of the Statutes of 1947 and Ch.1004 of the Statutes of 1951, of the State of California.

Two members of the Authority are appointed by the Palm Springs City Council, two by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors and three by the California Governor.  They serve without compensation for a four-year term.

The Authority has had ten chairmen since its inception: O. Earl Coffman (deceased); V.W. Grubbs (deceased); G. David Ackley (deceased); Burton Spivack; John Blatt; Elliot Field; Richard Shalhoub; Bette Myers; John Wessman; Lloyd Maryanov and currently Nancy Stuart.

The Authority meets regularly in Palm Springs the second Tuesday of each month.

  • JOHN WESSMAN,  Palm Springs. Developer.  Appointed by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors. 
    September 2003 to September 2007

  •  LLOYD MARYANOV, Palm Springs. Former Mayor of Palm Springs. 
     Appointed by the Palm Springs City Council.
     September 2003 to September 2007

  • NANCY J. STUART, Palm Springs. Businesswoman. Appointed by the Palm Springs City Council. 
    September 2003 to September 2007

  • KATHY BLOCK, Palm Springs. Businesswoman. Appointed by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors. 
    September 2000 to September 2008.

  • RIC SERVICE, Palm Springs.  Businessman. Appointed by the Governor April 2002 to January 2006

  • ELVIN W. MOON, Los Angeles. Businessman. Appointed by the Governor. December 2003 to January 2006.

  • JANICE OLIPHANT, Real Estate Broker.  Appointed by the Governor.  February 2004 to January 2006.
